Seg\u00fan el <a href=\"https:\/\/brasil.mapbiomas.org\/en\/2026\/07\/21\/area-queimada-no-brasil-cai-31-em-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Informe Anual del Fuego<\/a> de MapBiomas, se quemaron aproximadamente 7.7 millones de acres de bosque. Si bien sigue siendo alarmante, esto representa una reducci\u00f3n del 78.5 % en comparaci\u00f3n con 2024, cuando los incendios afectaron un \u00e1rea combinada mayor que el estado de Florida y se convirtieron en la causa principal de p\u00e9rdida de bosque primario en los bosques tropicales del mundo.<\/p><p>Esta disminuci\u00f3n se debi\u00f3 en gran parte a condiciones clim\u00e1ticas m\u00e1s favorables tras el fin de la sequ\u00eda relacionada con El Ni\u00f1o, as\u00ed como a \u00e9xitos en las pol\u00edticas ambientales y un aumento en los esfuerzos de combate de incendios a nivel federal y comunitario en toda la Amazon\u00eda brasile\u00f1a. Sin embargo, este progreso es fr\u00e1gil. Los meteor\u00f3logos vigilan la posible aparici\u00f3n de un <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-026-02293-y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201cs\u00faper\u201d El Ni\u00f1o<\/a> en 2026, el mismo patr\u00f3n clim\u00e1tico que contribuy\u00f3 a producir la sequ\u00eda hist\u00f3rica detr\u00e1s de los incendios de 2024.<\/p><p>Los primeros modelos indican que es probable que la actividad de incendios aumente en toda la Amazon\u00eda, especialmente porque las presiones subyacentes \u2014la expansi\u00f3n agr\u00edcola, la miner\u00eda ilegal y las quemas para desmonte\u2014 persisten. Ya entre los meses de enero y agosto de 2026, la Amazon\u00eda brasile\u00f1a ha visto arder m\u00e1s de cuatro millones de acres \u2014460,000 acres m\u00e1s que durante el mismo per\u00edodo en 2025\u2014, seg\u00fan el <a href=\"https:\/\/plataforma.monitorfogo.mapbiomas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Monitor del Fuego<\/a> de MapBiomas.<\/p><p>Los pron\u00f3sticos de temperaturas m\u00e1s c\u00e1lidas y condiciones m\u00e1s secas han puesto en alerta m\u00e1xima al gobierno brasile\u00f1o y a las comunidades ind\u00edgenas. Mientras tanto, en el primer semestre de 2026, los niveles de deforestaci\u00f3n en la Amazon\u00eda brasile\u00f1a cayeron a su nivel m\u00e1s bajo en 10 a\u00f1os. Entre enero y junio, se registr\u00f3 un total de 320,000 acres de deforestaci\u00f3n, una disminuci\u00f3n del 38 % con respecto al mismo per\u00edodo de 2025, seg\u00fan el Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Espaciales de Brasil (INPE).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section Las temperaturas m\u00e1s altas secan los bosques, creando las condiciones ideales para incendios forestales m\u00e1s grandes y frecuentes. Sin embargo, en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, dos causas interrelacionadas han llevado los incendios amaz\u00f3nicos a niveles r\u00e9cord: <strong>la deforestaci\u00f3n y la sequ\u00eda.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><strong style=\"color: #ffffff; background-color: transparent;\">Ganader\u00eda y expansi\u00f3n agr\u00edcola:<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">El fuego se utiliza com\u00fanmente para despejar tierras para la ganader\u00eda y la agricultura: los \u00e1rboles se talan, se dejan secar y se queman para preparar pastizales o tierras de cultivo. Tambi\u00e9n se ha descubierto que los acaparadores de tierras aprovechan esto, utilizando incendios provocados para avanzar hacia \u00e1reas reci\u00e9n vulneradas sin tener que talar y secar el bosque ellos mismos.<\/span><\/p><p><strong style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem; color: #ffffff;\">Sequ\u00eda:<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Intensificada por el cambio clim\u00e1tico, la <a style=\"color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/rainforestfoundation.org\/es\/our-work\/where-we-work\/amazon\/amazon-rainforest-drought\/\">sequ\u00eda<\/a> prolongada ha cambiado fundamentalmente el comportamiento del fuego en la Amazon\u00eda. Los bosques tropicales son naturalmente h\u00famedos y rara vez arden en condiciones normales. Pero a medida que los bosques tropicales se vuelven m\u00e1s secos, los fuegos iniciados para despejar tierras pueden escapar m\u00e1s f\u00e1cilmente hacia el bosque primario vecino, donde pueden arder a lo largo de miles de acres. Donde los derechos territoriales ind\u00edgenas est\u00e1n asegurados, los bosques est\u00e1n mejor protegidos contra la deforestaci\u00f3n y la degradaci\u00f3n de la tierra que hacen m\u00e1s probable la propagaci\u00f3n del fuego. Asimismo, en 2024, m\u00e1s del 87 % de los focos de incendio registrados en Brasil estuvieron <a href=\"https:\/\/acervo.socioambiental.org\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/c3d00078_3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">fuera de los territorios ind\u00edgenas<\/a>. Los incendios dentro de los territorios ind\u00edgenas tambi\u00e9n tienden a arder a temperaturas m\u00e1s bajas, seg\u00fan datos de Global Forest Watch, lo que concuerda con el uso controlado del fuego en la agricultura tradicional de subsistencia.<\/p><p>Esto no significa que las tierras ind\u00edgenas sean inmunes al fuego, especialmente durante sequ\u00edas severas; los incendios iniciados fuera de sus l\u00edmites a\u00fan pueden propagarse hacia el interior. Pero los bosques intactos y bien protegidos son m\u00e1s h\u00famedos y mucho menos inflamables que los degradados.<\/p><p><strong>El mapa satelital a continuaci\u00f3n muestra en tiempo real los incendios y las tierras de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas.
